An Annual Affair

Raising more than racquets

The FARM Family Fund was established by Raise a Racquet in 2017 and each year our event supports this critical mission. This year, the Farm Family Fund is one of UNC Children’s highest fundraising priorities. This Fund helps struggling families cover emergent and unexpected expenses as they navigate their child’s care at UNC Children’s. The Farm Fund is a lifeline for many families and patients.

Having a child in the hospital creates many new stresses on a family. In addition to the anxiety that comes from having a sick child, unexpected logistical and financial challenges often arise, making it difficult for the patient and his/her family to focus on getting well.

Imagine having to choose between working to support your family and being with your child in the hospital. Sometimes the expense of traveling from home to UNC Children’s is too great for a family to bear, and their child must remain in care at UNC alone. Sometimes families must decide if they will pay the utility bill at home or pay for lodging in Chapel Hill to be near a sick child.

The Farm Fund strives to provide a small bit of relief to patients and their families, offering aid to those at UNC Children’s who require significant financial, emotional and psycho-social support and assistance. The Fund will help cover expenses such as food, transportation, accommodations, travel, rent, utility bills, home and automobile repairs, education expenses, telephone bills, and other day-to- day costs.

Join the Raise A Racquet effort today by making a donation. Your contribution makes a big difference!
